Spurgeon College

    FOR THE CHURCH

Dr. Jason Duesing says, “Midwestern’s desire to be “For the Church” is a desire to see churches strengthened and then to seek increased cooperative ministry with other churches for the sake of global evangelism, to see the knowledge of the glory of God among all peoples as the waters cover the sea.” If the Seminary on campus stands with such a strong and incredible motto then why be For the Kingdom? Spurgeon College does not seek to be separate from Midwestern Seminary but wants to project a distinct vision for college students who will receive more degrees that intersect more with the secular world.

    FOR THE KINGDOM

What does it mean to be For the Kingdom? Dean of the College, Sam Bierig, notes that the difference between the church and the kingdom is that while Christ died for the church the kingdom not only involves the current believers but the kingdom is also the place in which Christ currently, and will forever continue, to reside. We here at Spurgeon College believe that two things outlast this world and all things in it, and those two things are souls and scripture. These are the core things that Spurgeon College pushes its students to love. We should love scripture because it is the word of God, perfect and pure in all ways, providing foundation and sustenance to the believer. Scripture then takes to the souls of men, it is the very tool that the Lord uses to mold and shape the believer. Spurgeon College does not exist simply to be a harbor and generator of young believers but as a forgery to build up and build out young men and women who desire to take the gospel into any and every field of life.
