In 2025, The Spurgeon Knights coaching staff announced that Lizzie Deaton would be the assistant coach for the women's volleyball team!
Lizzie attended Spurgeon College and received her bachelor’s degree in interdisciplinary studies. She played volleyball for the Spurgeon Knights for four years. “I learned many wonderful lessons through my coaches and grew tremendously in my faith. It was through my experience of playing at Spurgeon College that I realized my desire to be a volleyball coach.”
Lizzie Deaton has a big heart for mentoring and discipling and she wants to encourage young women to know Christ and serve him faithfully. Coach Deatons mission is to love, teach, and discipline players to grow in their walk with Jesus Christ and strive to become the best volleyball player they can be.
Coach Deaton is honored to be a part of the coaching staff and it is her prayer that the Lord would continue to grow this volleyball and that he would build and grow it in the way that he desires. (Psalm 127:1)
