Kansas City, Mo. – The Spurgeon Knights (3-3-0) took the field for the final game of the season against Kansas Christian College (5-4-0). The last game of the season for the Knights was played at Scheels Park, where they also recognized 4 seniors on the team, Jared Dean, Conner Guthrie, Alexandru Macra, and Subhash Vuppula.

How it Happened
  • The Knights started with possession of the ball and got on the board quickly. Chris Alsano scored twice to put the Knights up 2-0 early in the first half. Before long, KCC had fought back and even the score before halftime.
  • In the second half the game was back and forth. Eventually KCC overpowered a shot to go up 3-2. They later took a corner in the final minutes of the game to get their fourth goal of the game. The match ended at 4-2 in favor of KCC.

Season Highlights
  • The Knights went on the road this year and win their first game in program history against Central College of the Bible.
  • The Knights won their first home game against CCB.
  • Andres Pinilla recorded the first ever shut out in Spurgeon College Soccer history.
  • Chris Alsano led the Knights with 10 goals in 5 games.

Looking Ahead
  • The first ever season for men's soccer has ended for the Spurgeon Knights. They finished with 3 wins and 3 losses. Considering all the challenges a first-year team faces, the Knights should be proud of how far they have come over the course of the season. The Knights will get a chance to have an off-season where young guys can build more chemistry and learn to play together better. They also have a chance to bring in some new recruits to build on what they already have started. Coach Risher expressed how excited he is for next year, "We have laid a solid foundation to the program this year. Next year, I expect us to show the country that we will be the team to beat for years to come." The Knights have a huge opportunity next year as they build on their early success from their first year. The Knights find themselves with a huge opportunity on how they want to establish themselves as newcomers in this league.
