Game Recap: Men's Basketball | | Magdalene Jones

Knights Cruise to 5-0 Start with Win over Ecclesia

Knights Cruise to 5-0 Start with Win over Ecclesia

Summary:

The Knights Basketball team returned from Texas with two more wins, creating an electric atmosphere at their second home game. Several fans wore cowboy hats in celebration of their victories. Though a closer game than the one against Ozark, the Knights still dominated the court and made their fifth victory of the season.

How it Happened:

  • The Knights made the first hoop, thanks to Jack Chamberlain. However, Ecclesia fought back hard. They eventually surpassed the Knights, but the Knights locked their game back down. With a 2-pointer by Michael Berry and a free throw by Malikih Gillum, the Knights were back in the lead.

  • Still, the fight wasn't over. Ecclesia remained tight behind the Knights, but the Knights steadily moved ahead and maintained the lead to the end of the first half.

  • Halftime was again tense with anticipation. Though the Knights had held their own, it had been too close for comfort at times. A group of fans began a spontaneous dance to Cotton-Eyed-Joe while everyone waited, bringing a lighter mood to the atmosphere.

  • The second half started with Ecclesia taking a narrow lead, and for a little bit, the score went back and forth. The Knights took control again and charged ahead, making four hoops (two 3-pointers) in less than a minute.

  • For the rest of the game, the Knights kept Ecclesia at a comfortable distance, winning the game 102 – 91.

Highlights:

  • Jude Warren made 41 total points in this game, almost half of the Knights' score and ten more than any other player on either team. He also contributed to defense and shone as a player in general.

  • Drew Middleton had the second-most number of total points, but the points were mostly spread out among all the players.

  • The game was definitely more challenging, but the Knights maintained their undefeated drive and optimism.
