The soccer field at Ellendale, ND, saw extraordinary sporting prowess as Spurgeon College faced off against Oak Hills Christian on Aug. 24
th. The Spurgeon Knights ended the match with a stunning 15-0 victory, securing their second win of the season.
How it Happened:
It did not take long for the Knights to set the tone of the match.
Tyler Jones scored the opening goal at 10:59, thanks to an assist from
Sage Ballard. The team's offensive drive was relentless, as
Caleb Hawkins made the following three goals at 16:04, 20:10, and 27:46, the first assisted by
Sage Ballard.
The onslaught continued through the first half. Goals from
Rylen Ballard at 30:48 and
Sage Ballard at 35:00, with assists from
Eduard Mangalagiu and
Jack Downey respectively, pushed the scoreline to 6-0. At halftime, Spurgeon College had racked up 9 goals, including contributions from
Eduard Mangalagiu and a penalty kick by
Sage Ballard.
The second half was more of the same. João Pedro Pereira scored at 46:02, assisted by
Andres Mendoza, furthering Spurgeon's lead to 10-0. The scoring spree continued with
Jack Downey,
Sage Ballard, and João Pedro Pereira adding to the tally. Pereira's second goal at 69:56, assisted by
Jackson Edwards, brought the score to 13-0. The final minutes saw goals from
Rylen Ballard,
Sage Ballard, and
Andres Mendoza, concluding the game with a staggering 15-0 victory for Spurgeon College.
