The Knights' men's soccer team traveled up to Iowa to face Buena Vista on September 17
th.
Despite a fierce challenge from Buena Vista, the Spurgeon team emerged victorious. This is the first time a Spurgeon team has taken a NCCA DIII team on and won—a historic achievement for the Spurgeon athletics department.

How It Happened:
- The game opened with Spurgeon being pressed hard by Buena Vista. The team leveled shots on the Knight's goal for the first twenty minutes. At the 21:02 mark, Buena Vista scored their first goal.
- Only two minutes later, Spurgeon's Sage Ballard responded with a goal of his own. The tied game led to greater tension between the two teams. The first half continued with lots of shots by Buena Vista and fouls by Spurgeon, but the tie held at halftime.
- The second half opened with both teams bringing the heat and aggression to the field. Spurgeon fought hard, pushing Buena Vista back. Then, at 62:56, Sage Ballard scored the second goal and put Spurgeon in the lead.
- Despite a few more cautionary cards and fouls by both sides, Spurgeon managed to maintain their lead until the end of the game, securing a 2-1 victory over Buena Vista.

- Sage Ballard scored both goals for Spurgeon, playing a crucial role in the team's victory. He also played for the entire 90 minutes, alongside Andres Mendoza who played a significant role in the team's defense.
- Ronnie Godwin, the Spurgeon goalie, made two crucial saves which held Spurgeon's lead.
- The dedication and hard work displayed by the Spurgeon team was evident in their performance. This win marks a great achievement for the Knights' men's soccer team and the Spurgeon athletic department as a whole.
