Summary:
The Knights faced Ozark Christian on Sept. 15th. Ozark and Spurgeon fans alike flocked to see this game, attendance reaching 71 people. The game started with clear Spurgeon dominance. The Knights kept regaining ball, making multiple shots on goal while Ozark maintained their defense. Ozark kept fouling in their struggle to stand their ground. Eventually, James Nkwanda scored with a beautiful header. The Knights kept the ball on their opponents' side and soared to a satisfying victory.

How it Happened:
  • In the first ten minutes, Spurgeon kept control of the ball for the most part, with a few shots on goal. Ozark's frustration and effort resulted in several fouls on their side, keeping the game in the Knights' favor.
  • At 22:58, James Nkwanda—with an assist from Elijah Tling—had a stunning header right into the goal. The watching fans went wild.
  • After the goal, the Knights focused on maintaining their advantage. They continued to shoot on Ozark's goal, and several players switched with subs to keep the energy high.
  • Just before halftime, Ozark made a shot on the Knights' goal, but goalie Ronnie Godwin saved it, keeping the Knights on the path to victory.
  • The second half started with the Knights rushing back onto the field and down to Ozark's goal. Jackson Edwards and Adwell Malunga both made two shots within ten minutes of the game resuming.
  • After a few more subs and fouls, Grant Smith was the next Knight to make two shots on Ozarks' goal. Though the Ozark goalie saved the shots, it didn't matter. The pressure remained hard against Ozark to the very end of the game, and the Knights' made a smooth victory.

Highlights:
  • James Nkwanda, a new member of the Knights' soccer team, secured their win with a header directly into the goal. He was assisted by Elijah Tling, who joined the soccer team last season.
  • Grant Smith had three shots on goal, which kept the heat against Ozark and prevented them from moving off defense.
