Goodell, Rodriguez and Skinner Earn NCCAA Volleyball Weekly Honors

Three Knights receive national recognition for standout performances in September and October.

KANSAS CITY, Mo.

Three Spurgeon College volleyball players have earned NCCAA Division II Student-Athlete of the Week honors. Charis Goodell and Analisa Rodriguez captured the offensive and defensive awards September 21, respectively, before Shannon Skinner earned the offensive honor October 5.

The awards recognize contributions across the court, from Goodell's record-setting distribution and Rodriguez's consistent back-row defense to Skinner's production as both an attacker and defender.

GOODELL SETS THE STANDARD

Goodell's September 21 recognition followed a four-match week in which the sophomore totaled 161 assists, averaging 10.73 per set, while adding 38 digs and two service aces. According to the NCCAA, she became the first setter to receive its Division II women's volleyball offensive weekly award.

Her week began with a school-record 50 assists in Spurgeon's four-set victory over Ozark Christian College on September 15. She followed with 38 assists and 10 digs in a sweep of Central Bible University, then contributed 45 assists and 15 digs against Emmaus Bible College. Goodell closed the week with 28 assists against Hesston College, helping the Knights finish the stretch 2-2. NCCAA announcement

RODRIGUEZ ANCHORS THE BACK ROW

Rodriguez earned the September 21 defensive award with 63 digs across those same four matches, averaging 4.20 per set. The freshman also recorded 100 serve receptions, nine aces and 10 assists.

She collected 19 digs against Ozark Christian and added 11 digs and five aces against Central Bible. Her busiest defensive performance came in the five-set match against Emmaus, when she registered 22 digs and 31 receptions. Another 11 digs against Hesston gave her double-digit digs in every match of the week. NCCAA announcement

SKINNER DELIVERS ALL-AROUND PRODUCTION

Skinner's October 5 offensive award followed a week in which the NCCAA credited her with 63 kills, 71 digs, seven aces and three double-doubles across five matches. She averaged 3.71 kills per set and hit .233, reaching double-digit kills four times.

The sophomore posted 20 kills and 22 digs in the September 29 five-set win at Calvary Bible. In the October 3 doubleheader, she delivered 15 kills and 11 digs against Dallas Christian College, then added seven kills, eight digs and three aces against Huston-Tillotson University as Spurgeon swept both matches.
