Spurgeon Men's Soccer took the field in Moberly for the Central Region Final, coming off the momentum of the first postseason win in program history just one day earlier. The Knights played with determination and heart from start to finish, but Central Christian found two goals and Spurgeon was unable to convert their chances, resulting in a 2-0 final.
Even with the result, this match capped a season filled with growth, unity, and history-making effort. Under Head Coach Jared Dean, the Knights have continued to take clear steps forward. Coach Dean leads this team with patience, kindness, and a genuine care for his players. He teaches the game well, but even more importantly, he invests in shaping men who compete with character, humility, and joy. His belief in the players has helped guide the team to a higher level of expectation and identity.
A key highlight of the season was Sage Ballard being named First Team All-Region. Sage's creativity, consistency, and competitive drive were evident every match. His recognition reflects both individual excellence and the team's commitment to supporting one another and working together. Others stepped up all year as well, with leadership, effort, and encouragement coming from every part of the roster.
This team has much to be grateful for. Grateful for families and friends who traveled. Grateful for classmates and faculty who cheered and supported. Grateful for one another, in the locker room and on the training field. And grateful to the Lord, who guides, strengthens, and gives meaning to every step of this journey.
The season ends here, but the progress does not. A foundation has been firmly set. A culture has taken deeper root. The Knights move forward with confidence, passion, and a clear direction.
Thank you to everyone who supported Spurgeon Men's Soccer. The future is bright.
