A Total Team Effort Pushes Spurgeon to the Semi-Finals at the National Tournament

Box Score The Knights men's basketball team defeated #5 seed Arlington Baptist 104-97 to advance to the semi-finals of the NCCAA national championships. This is the first playoff win in Spurgeon College athletics history.

Many players made major contributions to help secure the Knights' win. Leading the team was National Player of the Year Jude Warren. Warren scored 31 points, shooting 10 for 16 from the field. Drew Middleton (19), Malikih Gillum (17), and DJ Middleton (13) all scored double-digit points in this fast-paced game.

Key players stepped up in big moments to help propel the Knights to the next round of the tournament. Diego Sanchez had six straight points for the Knights in the second half to swing the momentum our way. Evan Deleon was crucial in a few important defensive stops, giving the Knights the final edge. Spurgeon had the most fans in the gym of any of the schools apart from the host institution. Fans traveled over 6 hours to support their team, and the team put on a performance that had everyone off their feet for the entire game.

Spurgeon College will play the #1 seed Crown College tomorrow at 5 PM.
