Knights open playoffs with 111 to 58 win over Calvary Bible

Spurgeon College wasted no time setting the tone in postseason play, rolling past Calvary Bible 111 to 58 in the opening round on Thursday afternoon at Howie's Activity Center.

From the opening minutes, the Knights played with pace, pressure, and purpose. Spurgeon jumped out early, turned stops into easy points, and built a massive 64 to 23 halftime lead that put the game out of reach before the break. The Knights stayed aggressive in the second half, adding 47 more points and pushing the margin as high as 58.

How it was won

Spurgeon's defensive activity fueled everything. The Knights forced 29 turnovers and converted them into 43 points, repeatedly turning steals and pressure into transition chances and quick scoring bursts. The effort on the glass also stood out, as Spurgeon won the rebounding battle 42 to 26 and consistently created extra possessions.

Offensively, the Knights shared the ball, attacked from multiple spots, and got production throughout the rotation. Spurgeon finished with 24 assists and had a big lift from the bench with 52 points, keeping the tempo high for all 40 minutes.

Knights leaders

Raven Ortiz led the way with 17 points on 7 of 9 shooting, providing an immediate spark and steady control on both ends.

Jack Chamberlin added 15 points and helped set the tone inside with strong finishing and physical play.

Bishop Duffield scored 14 points in just 10 minutes, while Gabriel Hinojosa chipped in 12 points and knocked down two threes. Tyler Hicks also had a big impact with 10 points, including multiple three pointers, and Spurgeon received solid contributions across the lineup as the Knights' depth showed up in a major way.
