Spurgeon College volleyball delivered a commanding performance on Tuesday night, defeating Central Christian College in straight sets (25–12, 25–10, 25–23) at the Ferneau Center in Moberly, Missouri. With the win, the Knights improved to 6–16 on the season.
Knights Dominate Early
Spurgeon came out strong, setting the tone with precise serving and efficient offense in the opening set. The Knights quickly built momentum, cruising to a 25–12 victory behind strong attacking from Madison Moyer and Vivien Baker. Moyer posted five kills on a .500 hitting percentage, while Baker added four kills and three service aces to help the Knights control the pace of play.
The second set was more of the same, as Charis Goodell directed the offense with 13 assists and added two service aces of her own. The Knights' consistent passing and sharp execution led to a dominant 25–10 result.
Central Christian Pushes Back, but Spurgeon Closes It Out
The third set saw a tighter contest, with Central Christian fighting to extend the match. The Knights, however, stayed composed down the stretch. Naomi Gibler and Brooke Davidson each contributed three kills, while Josephine Dull added four on .167 hitting. A late surge of defensive effort, highlighted by Lydia Swartz's 21 digs, helped Spurgeon secure the 25–23 win and complete the sweep.
Team Effort Leads the Way
The Knights finished the night with 24 kills, nine service aces, and a .136 team hitting percentage. Defensively, the team tallied 51 digs, showcasing balance across all rotations.
Building Confidence
Tuesday's sweep marked one of Spurgeon's most complete performances of the season. With growing chemistry and strong contributions from both veterans and underclassmen, the Knights continue to build momentum heading into the final stretch of their fall campaign.
