Spurgeon Knights Basketball 2026-2027 Season Schedule Announced

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Spurgeon College men's basketball has announced its complete schedule for the 2026-27 season.

The Knights' 2026-27 schedule features a challenging slate of competition, including matchups against NCCAA opponents, NCAA Division I, Division II and Division III programs, and NAIA competition. The regular-season schedule includes 29 games, with the Knights traveling throughout the country while also hosting a strong slate at the Mathena Student Center.

Head coach Billy Livezey enters his fifth season leading the Spurgeon College men's basketball program as the Knights prepare for a 2026-27 schedule built to test them from the opening tip. Last season, the Knights repeated as NCCAA Central Region regular season champions, earned the No. 1 seed at the NCCAA Division II National Championship in Minneapolis, and reached the national semifinals for the third straight year.

Coach Livezey expressed his enthusiasm, stating, "This is another tough schedule that we get the opportunity to compete in this upcoming year, and I am excited for that opportunity. This year's schedule will push our team to be at its best come March. I think we will be the best version of ourselves as the season goes on rather than early on. We come right out of the gate with some tough opponents in the first semester, so we will be tested right off the bat. I'm excited to see how this year's schedule stretches us to fulfill some of the goals that our upperclassmen have been talking about since they got here three or four years ago. I'm also excited to see how the newcomers grow through this schedule as they continue to learn this level of basketball and the Spurgeon Basketball way. It's all the Lord's. I'm thankful for His sovereignty over it all, for our safety on the road, and for all His kindness these past few years. I'm ready to see what these men can do with the talents and time He has given them. Can't wait!"

The season tips off with the annual Knights Night on Thursday, Oct. 22, at 7 p.m. in the Mathena Student Center. The Knights then open the regular season on the road against Faith Baptist Bible College (Oct. 31) in Ankeny, Iowa, before returning to Kansas City for their home opener against Ecclesia College (Nov. 3).

Central Region play starts early, with road trips to Barclay College (Nov. 7) in Haviland, Kan., and Ozark Christian College (Nov. 10) in Joplin, Mo. The Knights come back home to host Dallas Christian College (Nov. 13) and Blackburn College (Nov. 16), then head to Texas before Thanksgiving to face Southwestern Adventist University (Nov. 20) in Keene, Texas, and Dallas Christian College (Nov. 21) in Dallas.

December opens at home with a region matchup against Union Adventist University (Dec. 3), followed by Greenville University (Dec. 9). The Knights then visit region opponent Central Bible University (Dec. 11) in Moberly, Mo., before two exhibition games against NCAA programs Rockhurst University (Dec. 12) in Kansas City and Missouri S&T (Dec. 14) in Rolla, Mo. Spurgeon closes out 2026 at Southwestern College (Dec. 30) in Winfield, Kan.

The new year begins with an exhibition against fellow Kansas City school and Division I opponent the University of Missouri-Kansas City (Jan. 2). The Knights then travel to Kansas Christian College (Jan. 6) in Overland Park, Kan., and Ecclesia College (Jan. 8) in Springdale, Ark., before a three-game swing through the Southeast against Welch College (Jan. 11) in Nashville, Tenn., Baptist University of Florida (Jan. 12) in Graceville, Fla., and Southeastern Baptist College (Jan. 14) in Laurel, Miss.

The second half of the season is built around the Central Region. Spurgeon returns home for three straight region games against Manhattan Christian College (Jan. 19), Barclay College (Jan. 23) and Calvary University (Jan. 26), then travels to Union Adventist University (Jan. 30) in Lincoln, Neb. February brings home games against Central Bible University (Feb. 2) and Ozark Christian College (Feb. 5), followed by road games at Calvary University (Feb. 9) in Kansas City and Manhattan Christian College (Feb. 16) in Manhattan, Kan., to close region play. The Knights wrap up the regular season at home against Kansas Christian College (Feb. 18).

The 2026-27 schedule features 29 games, including three exhibitions, with 11 at home and 18 on the road. Before the new year, the Knights play 14 games (5 home, 9 away), and after Jan. 1 they play 15 games (6 home, 9 away). Twelve of those games come against Central Region opponents.

The NCCAA Central Region Tournament follows in late February, with dates and location to be announced. The NCCAA Division II National Championship will be held March 10-13, 2027, in Pensacola, Fla., hosted by Pensacola Christian College.
