TWO GOALS SET THE PACE
Barmann opened the scoring at 19:59, giving the Knights a lead they would maintain for the remainder of the match. She doubled the advantage at 33:15, converting a penalty kick to send Spurgeon into halftime ahead 2-0.
Her second goal proved to be the game winner. Makayla Goff added Spurgeon's third goal at 77:06 before Central Christian scored on a late penalty kick.
Barmann finished with five shots, three on target, and four points in the Knights' only match of the award week. Both goals were unassisted. Spurgeon converted three of its seven shots on goal despite Central Christian holding a 29-12 advantage in total shots.Â
A CONSISTENT OFFENSIVE CONTRIBUTOR
At the time of her recognition, Barmann had scored four of Spurgeon's seven goals and assisted on two more. Those contributions gave her 10 points and a direct role in six of the Knights' seven goals through their first six matches.
The two-goal outing continued a productive stretch. In the September 17 draw at Faith Baptist Bible, Barmann assisted Adele Johnson on Spurgeon's first-half equalizer before scoring at 55:42 to put the Knights ahead. Faith later tied the match, which finished 2-2.
Across the Faith and Central Christian matches, Barmann recorded three goals and one assist as Spurgeon earned a draw and a victory on the road.Â
